The Quality organization is currently seeking a seeking a talented Reliability and Statistics Technical Specialist within the Systems and Components Quality Reliability Engineering group in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The Reliability and Statistics Technical Specialist will be the lead for developing and implementing advanced reliability and analysis methodologies in a dynamic reliability engineering team. The primary responsibility for this role will be to provide timely consultation and support to the entire Quality organization on statistical applications to resolve real world issues as well as assessment and implementation of advanced reliability methodologies. To that end, the person will be in a position to deliver a much needed and highly valued competency for the overall organization.

The selected individual will have experience in working cross-functionally and possess a broad knowledge of product development techniques and tools. The candidate must be a high energy, hands-on individual with strength of convictions -- a self-confident leader who, in part due to his/her personal presence, style, and demeanor, effectively sells ideas and solutions to others. Moreover, this person must have unquestioned integrity.

As part of our company's performance transformation, we're investing in quality improvements and creating a stronger, centralized Quality Organization. Organized into cross-functional teams, it's a unique Chrysler division consisting of manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality department members who work together to solve product quality issues and reduce warranty claims. The company has defined six different types of quality and set measurable targets for improvement in each category. Since 2009, the number of employees working on our coordinated quality strategy has increased more than 400 percent. The specific responsibilities are:
  • Responsible for the development to of new analysis and testing methodologies that demonstrate improvements through reduced time and cost
  • Drive for continuous quality improvement by suggesting, evaluating, and implementing improvements to the Proactive Reliability Process
  • Support the understanding of warranty and field activity by providing ad-hoc analyses that result in further understanding of root cause or expected impact of potential issues
  • Represent the company in the Reliability and Statistics community by attending conferences and presenting papers
  • Plan, prioritize, set goals, and manage multiple projects in a technical and business environment
  • Strong communication skills to support meetings at all levels of the company, including senior leadership
  • Represent the "Voice of the Customer" to the platform teams
  • Establish partnerships both internally and externally and to influence without direct authority
  • Commitment and dedication in delivering a premier product to the consumer
  • Demonstrate unwavering commitment to delivering results and champion achievements
  • Exhibit a willingness to do things differently and consistently translate ideas into actions that deliver results
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work in a team environment

Basic Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher in engineering, reliability, statistics, mathematics or related field
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the practical application of product, quality, or reliability methodologies
  • Basic understanding of the automotive industry and the various systems that are part of modern automobiles
  • Advanced business reporting skills covering standard office software (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presenting complex material to various types of audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree or higher in engineering, reliability, statistics, mathematics or related field
  • Design for Six Sigma or Robust Engineering certification (Black Belt, Green Belt)
  • Certified Quality or Reliability Engineer
  • Familiarity with quality measurement methodology, warranty analysis, and third party metrics (Consumer Reports, J.D. Power)
  • Knowledge of using any statistical software package (MINITAB, SAS, R, Weibull++, etc.)
